Principal's Welcome to new Reception Children and Parents
Tuesday 14th June 2022
Dear Parents/ Carers,
On behalf of Staff, Governors, children and parents, it gives us great pleasure in extending a very warm welcome to you and your child as new members of our family here at Ogbourne CofE Primary School. Thank you for choosing us as the primary school where your child will begin their educational journey.
We are delighted that your child has been offered a place here at Ogbourne for this September and we are so looking forward to meeting you all. We want this to be the beginning of a happy secure and successful time for you and your child. Our aim is to develop a supportive partnership where we can all work together in order to realise our school vision that “every child is a candle waiting to be lit”.
We would like to take this opportunity to invite your children into school for two Induction mornings later this term. The dates for these are: 9.00-12.00 Thursday 30th June and Friday 1st July. If these are days that your child usually attends “Little Dragons” we will arrange on your behalf for them to be brought over to school from the nursery.
We recognise that starting school can be an anxious time for parents and children alike. If there is anything you need, please ask; you are part of our school family now.
We are also delighted to be able to advise you that of our plans for the start of Term in September 2022:
Term 1 – Week 1
- Thursday 1st Sept: Staff Training Day, no pupils
- Friday 2nd Sept: only Yr.1-6 pupils in school. No Yr.R pupils in on this day, instead Yr.R parents and child are invited in for brief 1-2-1 meetings to meet class teacher(s). Please contact via Admin (01672 841318 / admin@ogbourne.excalibur.org.uk) to arrange a convenient time for yourselves.
Term 1 – Week 2
- Monday 5th – Wednesday 7th Sept: Reception in all morning. Arrive 9:05*; depart 12:00 (before lunch) * we suggest 9:05 since that gives us a few minutes to get all of our current children into class at 9:00 before then welcoming your child into school.
- Thursday 8th – Friday 9th Sept: Reception in all morning and lunchtime. Arrive 9:05; depart 1:20.
Term 1 - Week 3 onwards
- Monday 12th September onwards: Reception class begin normal school day. Gates open 8:45, lessons begin at 9:00; depart 3:10-15
- We appreciate that some children will be tired by the end of the week and may need to be picked up in advance of 3.15. School and home will liaise 1-2-1 to arrange if this is required.
- Friday 16th September: all parents of Yr.R pupils are invited to an informal coffee morning and a “getting to know you” with other parents and school staff, from 11.15-12.00.
We look forward to seeing you all soon, in the meantime enjoy a relaxing, safe and healthy summer,
Mr R. Smith – Principal

School Cool Milk
Free milk is available for all children aged under five in school, funded by the UK Government. In our school, this milk is provided by Cool Milk, the UK's leading school milk supplier. We will register your child for their free school milk on your behalf by providing Cool Milk with your child's name and date of birth. This removes the requirement for you to complete a registration process.
Free milk will continue until the Friday before your child's fifth birthday. You will then be able to contact Cool Milk directly to pay a subsidised rate for your child if you would like them to continue to receive milk.
All information handled by Cool Milk is processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
