Induction Information for Incoming Reception Children (September 2020)

Principal's Welcome to new Reception Children and Parents
Dear Parents/ Carers,
On behalf of Staff, Governors, children and parents, it gives me great pleasure in extending a very warm welcome to you and your child as new members of Ogbourne CofE Primary School family. Thank you for choosing us as the primary school where your child will begin their educational journey.
We are delighted that your child has been offered a place here at Ogbourne for this September and we are so looking forward to meeting you all. We want this to be the beginning of a happy secure and successful time for you and your child. Our aim is to develop a supportive partnership where we can all work together in order to
realise our school vision that “every child is a candle waiting to be lit”.
We recognise that starting school can be an anxious time for parents and children alike, even more so in the current context. If there is anything you need, please ask.
Ordinarily, we would be writing to you to invite you to a number of events during this summer term to welcome you to our school and meet our Reception teacher, Mrs Ramsden. However, due to the current situation this is simply not possible. We find ourselves in an unprecedented set of circumstances and understand the anxieties
you may have about your child’s transition into Reception. Schools are working within a constantly changing environment and receive regular updates from the Department for Education. We therefore ask for your patience whilst we put together plans which are practical, and above all, mutually beneficial in supporting the best possible start to your child’s school life.
Nonetheless, we want to reassure you at this time of uncertainty that we haven’t forgotten you and will give you as much support as any other year. We are already visiting your children in their nurseries and speaking to their key workers to find out about them. If we have been unable to do this, then rest assured we will call your nurseries and speak to them over the phone to gain this valuable information.
We look forward to seeing you all soon, in the meantime enjoy a relaxing, safe and healthy summer,
Mr R. Smith - Principal

This removes the requirement for you to complete a registration process.
